Winter Walk at Wicken Fen
This weekend we woke up early and went to Wicken Fen near Ely, north of Cambridge. The morning started off with brilliant sunshine, but by the time we had finished our walk it was turning cloudy, and was very cold and windy!

Above: an old windmill

Above: It was very cold - the ground was crisp, and the puddles were frozen.

Above: There were a couple of cool viewing hides. This one overlooked a field of ponies.
Below: The ponies are used to help return a forest back to the natural fen habitat.

Above & Below: Another hide - this one was very old.

Above & Below: From the hide we could see a lake - with lots of birds. But we were too far away to make them out propely. Needed some binoculars.
