USA 2002 - Yosemite - Introduction

Yosemite: 1 - 2 - 3

After picking up Dave & Sarah from the airport in San Francisco and meeting Jon on the underground (BART) in Berekely we spent one night in our cramped little campus room!! The next morning we went to the local church, and then headed off towards Yosemite National Park.

ABOVE: Yosemite is located to the east of San Francisco and it took us about four hours to get there, stopping off at Taco Bell on the way for a snack, and unlimited Sprite! Most of the driving was through very dry and arid scenery and we saw a lot of eagles hovering over head. The climb up to Yosemite was quite steep, but we finally made it and camped on the outskirts of the national park, about 40 minutes drive from the actual valley.

BELOW: During our two night stay in Yosemite we climbed up Glacier Point with Jon's parents that were spending a week in Yosemite. We also went swimming in the river at the bottom of the valley - with very impressive scenery!

ABOVE: Yosemite Valley is absolutely stunning and has pretty much vertical cliffs on each side!

ABOVE: This was our tent - 5 people had to fit in! Ang & Sarah show off their giant pine cone. During our first night camping there was a huge thunder storm which scared Ang as it was her first ever experience of camping! Also there were bears, dear, chipmunks and who knows what else wandering around the campsite!
