USA 2002 - San Francisco - Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6

On Angela's day off from the conference we did manage to walk around the city together.

ABOVE & BELOW: The Golden Gate Bridge - looking rather red to me! At the end of our holiday in the USA we actually camped on the headland to the left of the bridge!!

BELOW: During the second world war the bay area of San Francisco was a strategic area for the US. On either side of the opening to the bay, over which the bridge crosses, there were heavy defences including bunkers and hughe cannons. . I am standing in one of the bunkers.

ABOVE: Big ship going under big bridge.

BELOW: We walked across the bridge and could then look back towards San Francisco.

BELOW: Its amazing how much traffic can travel over the bridge.
