2002 - Lake Mead - Swimming in the Desert!
After
having spent the last few days in the desert it was great to see
water again. But we were still in the middle of the desert, the
temperature was still above 40C - the lake was man made and provided
some unique scenery.

BELOW:
The lake was really cool - so much water in
the desert was amazing. As soon as we got a chance we went swimming.
It was so bizare to be surrounded by arid desert and mountains and
yet swimming in a huge lake!

ABOVE
& BELOW: All
the water was kep in place by the Hoover Dam. You can see a truck
driving across the dam (below) which gives a scale to the
dam.

ABOVE:
The colour of the water was fantastic.

ABOVE
& BELOW: We
camped on the edge of the lake. The next day Dave took the opportunity
to go jet skiing for an hour along the lake, while us poor students
just settled for a swim!

From
Lake Mead we drove North East into Arizona to the Grand Canyon National
Park
