Singapore & Australia Holiday 2004 Sydney
Leaving Singapore in the evening we flew overnight to Sydney where we landed in the early morning where we caught a minibus to our YHA hostel in the centre. The weather during the week was fantastic and we had a good time exploring the city. By the end of the week we were ready to fly off to Cairns having had a good Australian city experience.
Sydney & The Skyline
Arriving at our hostel too early to check into our room we went for a walk to try and stay awake. The sun was just beginging to rise so we had a fanastic view of Sydney harbour in the morning sun. I have also put some other pictures of the famous Sydney skyline including the opera house and the harbour bridge in this section. Click here to view these pictures.

Darling Harbour
One of my favourite spots in Sydney was about a 10 minute walk from our hostel called Darling Harbour. It was a lovely mixture of bars, cafes, boats and water. Our first visit to the harbour was on the first day when, after a sleep, we walked down to the harbour as the sun was setting and had a lovely meal on the water front. day. Manly Walk
In the beautiful Australian sunshine we took a ferry across the harbour to Manly Wharf where we walked through the centre going through all the shops before settling on the fantastic beach to soak up the rays. Feeling a bit more energetic we then decided to go on a walk around the coast which took all day but gave us great views and introduced us to the wildlife of Australia. Click here for pics.

Boat Trip and Olympic Park
Lookin for a day to chill out a bit we took the ferry from down town Sydney up the river to the Olympic Park from the 2000 Olympics. We didn't think it was going to be that great but ended up really enjoying ourselves as we hired a bike an explored the area. There were great parks, a nature park and of course all the Olympic stadiums to explore.

Blue Mountains
Described as Australia's Grand Canyon we spent a day on a tour round the Blue Mountains about 2hrs away from Sydney. The views were stunning and we enjoyed the day being driven around the amazing scenery.

Sydney Zoo
With half a day to spare before we flew up to Cairns we deiced to visit the world famous Sydney zoo. Its built on the hillside overlooking the main city of Sydney offering a great Skyline as we walked round and looked at the animals. After having been to Singapore zoo less than a week earlier we didn't think the zoo was quite as good - but we still had a good time and enjoyed seeing some of the more unusual animals.
