Singapore & Australia Holiday 2004 Singapore
Our first stretch of our holiday was the 13 hour flight to Singapore to spend a long weekend exporing the island. This section is broken up into the different things we did while in Singapore.
Introduction I took a half day on Thursday June the 24th and struggled to leave work on time so that I had a rush to get ready before the taxi arrived. Ang being Ang had given us 5 hours to get to the Heathrow in time to check in 2 hours before the flight departed!! So, we had plenty of time to get there.
At the airport we'd arranged to meet up with my parents - so it was lovely to see them for an hour before we checked in. We also watched England getting knocked out of the European cup by the Portagese football team - it was very tense and certainly helped to pass the time. The journey on the plane seemed to go quickly with plenty of good food and decent films to watch - I didn't get too much sleep, but it was relaxing all the same. Arriving in Singapore during the early hours of the evening, we caught a Taxi to Cluny Road, right next to the Botanic gardens near the centre of the city. We stayed at the OMF headquarters, the missionary organisation that my parents below to. It was basic accomodation, without air conditioning - but good enough as a base to explore the island in comfort. Feeling a bit peckish, and not too sleepy we walked about half a mile down the road to a shopping centre to explore what was available. We ended up having the nicest Thai meal ever - and looking back on it, it was probably the best meal we'd ever had. Very delicate flavour - FANTASTIC!
Sentosa Island On our first full day in Singapore, we took a cable car over to the island of Sentosa - the holiday island just south of Singapore. We spent the day visiting the butterfly house, the underwater aquariam, lazing on the beach and watching the amazing fountain and laser show. It was a cram packed day full of exciting things. Butterflies, Sharks & Lions!
During our time on Sentosa, and then the next day at Singapore Zoo we saw a huge range of animals. Click here to see some great photos of underwater creatures, butterflies, and wild animals in the amazing Night Safari.

Boat Trip Around the Harbour
One of our favourite things we did while in Singapore was to take a boat trip around the harbour and up one of the rivers. The skyline was amazing... click here to see some pictures of our time in the boat.
