Sydney & The Skyline
Arriving at our hostel too early to check into our room we went for a walk to try and stay awake. Leaving the hostel with only a map and camera to hand we started walking towards the harbour.

First stop was a Hyde Park (!) where we caught our first glimpse of some the Australian birds. They were about the size of geese up with a long curled beak... very different from your typical british city pigeon! The picture above is looking up the avenue of tees with the sun shining through. It doesn't quite capture the magic of actually being there!

Walking towards the harbour it was hard not to notice how blue the sky was. Everything looked so great in the rising sun...
Our first glimpse of the opera house and bridge were quite special. We had seem them so many times in pictures but this time we were actually there, and we were watching the sun rise over them!

Wearing tinted sunglasses everything looked stunning and I wanted to try and capture what I was seeing on camera... so I put them on the camera! The result is the picture below - not quite what I was seeing, but certainly hints at the glow I was seeing through the glasses as I looked across the harbour.

We continued our walk along the harbour through the Royal Botanic Gardens and looked across Woolloomooloo Bay (!) to the navy warships. Again, with the sun rising everything felt so crips and fresh.
This is one of my favourite photos below. It really captures the mood we felt as we were walking around the harbour.

Leaving the Royal Botanic gardens behind we walked across Farm Cove to the Opera House. The trees in the gardens were quite impressive and we spent quite a bit of time just chilling as we walked through and investigated them.

The opera house looked just as impressive up close as it did from a distance. The picture above shows just how detailed the design is. Click here to see more pictures of the Sydney Sklyline and harbour.
