Blue Mountains
Lunch was at an eco-friendly place in the middle of the bush. We had a really tasty lunch and then walked around the grounds on a raised walkway.

Our last stop in the mountains was at the Three Sisters which is famous for its three towers of rock. It was one of the most popular tourist attractions in the mountains and offers a train and cable car down into the valley to a 30 minute boardwalk. We decided we wanted to go down and so started to que up as we saw the stunning views of the valley.

Looking down into the valley we saw views of the forest canopy where the boarwalk was underneath, the cable car - and the platform (mid-left) where the train stopped.

Queing up for the train we saw quite a few local birds being fed.
The train was so SCARY!! Better than any roller coaster we'd been on! With an incline of 52 degrees and a drop of 415m, Katoomba Scenic railway is the steepest railway in the world. It was originally used to carry ore up from the mine in the valley.
Although it was very sunny on the rim of the valley, down in the valley it was dark, damp and much colder!! Ang and I both loved walking around the bush seeing the natural plants and animals.
The final part of the journey was on a cable car which took us back up to the top of the valley. It offered pretty stunning views as we floated up the valley.

The first of two stops on the way back to Sydney was at a playing field where Ang tried the ancient art of throwing a boomerang! She was excellent and was better than many of the boys who tried!

The last stop on our fantastic day was in a nature reserve where we were able to come face to face with wild kangaroos!! As they were wild we couldn't get too close but it was very special to spend some time with these wonderful animals.
