Singapore City

During our second day of our stop over in Singapore we headed down to the shopping district of Singapore. Withing walking distance of where we were staying we were walking along streets lined with huge shopping malls! Where do we start?!

It seemed like every buidling on each side of the street contained a huge collection of shops. Ang was in heaven! We did some window shopping, but we also spent some time getting some summer clothes in anticipation for our 2 week stay in Australia. I also spent some time looking for a new camera, and came so close to buying one until I realised that the Singapore spec of the camera was different from the UK spec. Phew!

On our last day in Singapore we caught a taxi down to the famous Raffles Hotel. We felt such a fraud getting out of the taxi at the hotel greeted by the doorman, and then running away to the street so that we didn't get dragged in for an expensive cup of tea!

Leaving the hotel, we made our way down to the sea/river front to the Esplanade. It was an impressive collection of theatres and restraunts which lined the water offering amazing views across to the city.

These huge buildings dwarfed the multi-coloured buildings of the old town. We left our boat for about an hour to explore this old and historic section of the town.

After arriving back at the Esplanade after our boat trip we did a bit of shopping along in the shopping mall overlooking the sea front, before heading through a 5 star hotel (very impressive!) and catching a taxi back to where we were staying for a bite of lunch.
