Singapore - Butterflies, Sharks & Lions!
While on Sentosa Island, we went to the Butterfly house and the underwater aquariam. The picture below shows Ang standing next to one of the displays at the butterfly house - the insects were huge! I certainly wouldn't want to meet any of these things on the floor of my bedroom!

THe butterfly house was certainly impressive. Literally thousands of the butteflys flutter byed!! There were so many different colours and sizes... and they landed everywhere, even on me and Ang!
The butterfly below was my favourite... the colours were absolutely fantastic.
We then moved on to the Underwater World where Ang was brave enough to put her hand in the rock pool and pet a shark!

The first section of the underwater world involved quite a few aquariums, just larger than normal, but containing some really interesting creatures like these large jellyfish above and below. There were pretty much transparent, and it was amazing to see them move through the water.

One of my favourites was the sea horses. There were a number of different types, but the ones shown above were the most flamboyant. The yellow ones below were very cute, and interesting to watch.

The octopus above was pretty impressive, and so was the feeding of the sea cow below.
Once out of the Underwater World we saw a short show performed by a monkey. Although I'm not a big fan of keeping animals for performance, it was very impressive to see how clever the monkies were.

Visiting the Night Safari was certainly one of the high points of our trip in Singapore. To see the animals during the night when they are the most active was very exciting. We walked around the park and felt so close to the animals, separated by just a ditch and some unseen fences.

The pictures here really don't do the experience justice. It was so amazing hearing the lions roar, and watching them chase each other round their enclosure - something you just don't get to see when visiting a zoo during the day. Highlights included; walking arms distance away from hanging flying foxes (bats), watching a fishing cat fish, watching a red panda climb a pole just feet away.
