Fornby with the Red Squirrels
In the middle of October, Ang and I took a Friday off (our anniversary) and started the long trip up to Southport to visit Angela's sister and her new husband. We stopped off at a travelodge in Birmingham on our anniversary night (how romantic!! - but it was only £10 a night!!). Arriving with Helen and Brian on Friday afternoon we spent the the rest of the day walking around Southport - exploring the beach and shops. On the Saturday we went to a National Trust property made up of pine forests, beach and red squirrels!!

Above: we went for a walk around the forest to see if we could see the allusive red squirrels.

Below: the sun had its had on.

Above: as always, I scoured the forest for interesting things to photo - like this mushroom...
Below: ... and the squirrels we finally caught up with! We'd bought some nuts on the way into the forest so had plenty to hand out to the brave little squirrels.

Above & Below: we all thought they were very cute.
