Wicken Fen Walk
At the begining of January, while we were still on holiday, Ang and I decided to go for a walk in our local national park - Wicken Fen. It was a gorgeously beautiful day, and the skies were clear and blue! Ang and I decided to do a circular walk to take in the fen scenery...

Above & Below: This is only 5 miles away from where we live, and as you can see, its SO FLAT!! The fens were once completely marsh land, but over the centuries they have been drained to produced very fertile land.

Above: There are lots of man made rivers and ditches across the fens to make sure the water is drained away.

Above: Wild fen ponies.

Above: Ang standing on a bridge with a windmill in the distance. Windmills are also very common in the fens, and were once used to help drain the water into rivers and ditches.

Above & Below: Very fertile soil.

Below: Just before we got back to the car, we spotted this dear hiding in the bushes. Unfortunately it was too quick and I wan't able to get a good picture of it.
