Budapest Weekend Break 2005 - Page 2

Above & Below: in the afternoon the sun came out after Ang and I had some food in a cafe opposite the Matyas church pictured above. We then started to walk towards the old palace buildings whene we came across a folk and traditional crafts market. It was absolutely heaving with people!!

Above & Below: we finally made it to the Royal Palace and walked through Lion Gate to the square below where we listened to folk music in the traditional wooden venue errected especially.

Above & Below: feeling a bit peckish... Ang and I decided to have some of this traditional sweet bread that was cooked over hot coals. It was very yummy!! We sat down under a tree (for some shade) and listened to some traditional Hungarian music being played live along the walk way.

Above & Below: as the sun had come out, I decided to take some photos of the river and surrounding buildings.

Above & Below: walking down to the river front we started to hear planes flying past... very low. As we got closer we could see planes flying in formation... then doing acrobatics! What was happening? It was fantastic... I couldn't wait to get to the river to see what was going on...

Above & Below: the airshow had been orgainsed for what we later found out to be Hungary's national holiday weekend!! It was the international Red Bull flying teams... the airshow was put on with modern and hitorical planes.

Above & Below: after being thoroughly excited by the airshow we walked across the bridge an chilled out on Margarent island... watching the sunset over the fountain.

Above & Below: after having found out it was the national holiday, we also reaslised that a jazz concert had been arranged for the evening... along the river front. The band played on a barge in the middle of the river with the music and pictures relayed across to each side of the river on massive speakers and screens.

Above & Below: the atmosphere was fantastic - and the music even better. Ang and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
