Budapest Weekend Break 2005
In August Ang and I flew to Budapest in Hungary for a short break. We had a fantastic hotel out in the hills over looking the city - just 20 minutes by bus from the city centre.

Above & Below: Arriving in the late afternoon we chilled out in the hotel before having a lovely meal in the restraunt. After the food, we headed out of the hotel grounds and walked up the hill a couple of minutes where we saw these wonderful views of Budapest city. The photos don't do justice to the lights of the city. It was easy to make out some of the landmarks that we were due to see in the coming days.

Above & Below: Waking up the next morning we decided to go for a bike ride through the forests and mountains of the surrounding areas. It was great scenery... and strange to think that we were less than 20 minutes away from the hussle and bussle of the big city.

Above & Below: in the afternoon we headed down to city on a local bus and started exploring the old town of Budapest on Castle hill which overlook the Danube river.
Not that you can see it clearly... but Ang is standing in front of the church below!

Above & Below: it was a very pretty part of the city - but was a shame that it was overcast and humid. Below is a picture of Ang sitting in front of the ruins of St Magdalene church.

Above: this is a view from the old town looking back up to the hill where we were staying. The round hill in the right of this picture was about 100m away from our hotel.

Above & Below: The views from the old town were pretty amazing - lots of historical buildings, and views across the river to the parliament buildings.
